Yesterday the State of Maine held its Republican Caucuses. Mitt Romney easily stomped McCain in Maine. With the largest turn outs since 1980 when Ronald Reagan won the GOP nomination. Even though McCain was endorsed by the Maine’s two US Senators, true conservatives decided to come out and vote for Romney.
Mitt Romney received 52% of the vote to John McCain’s 21%, with Ron Paul in third with 19% and Mike Huckabee in embarrassing last place with only 6%. This gives Mitt Romney his 3rd Caucus victory and fourth overall “Gold Medal” as Mitt would put it.
To use Romney’s reference to the Olympics, which of course managed, the scorecard for all primaries and caucuses to this date looks like this:
Mitt Romney has 4 Gold and 3 Silver, 0 Bronze
Johm McCain has 3 Gold, 2 Silver and 1 Bronze
Mike Huckabee has 1 Gold, 1 Silver, and 2 Bronze
Ron Paul has 0 Gold, 1 Silver, and 1 Bronze
Interesting enough most of Romney’s wins have been from Caucuses and none of John McCain’s has been from Caucuses. I don’t know what the implications of that mean but I know I’ll be glued to the TV on Super Tuesday.
